RSS Feed

RSS is “Really simple syndication”. With RSS the users don’t need to come to your site or open your inbox to get about your latest updated news information. Only when once they subscribe to your “feed” they will get news automatically.

RSS is an XML based format originated by Netscape. First you need to create feed. “Feed” is a file, which you upload to your server. RSS feed is the extension of .xml and created by tools. RSS feeds need to include the headlines, links and summaries the content you want to distribute.

Once a feed has been created, other computers can subscribe to your "channel" and read your updates using what's called an "Aggregator" or "news reader." Most feeds consist of a link with a short summary to click on to read the entire article. To let people know your site offers an RSS feed, you place an orange XML icon on your site linked to the URL of your feed. You'll also want to list your feed with various RSS search engines that exist just for the purpose of collecting a database of feeds.

When you make any changes, any updates in your site, automatically the updates occurs in your feed. So, you need not to be update your RSS feed. It become update automatically.

The disadvantages are that you cannot include personalization, and you have no way of knowing how many people are subscribing to your feed. Also, at this time, RSS may seem a bit complicated to the novice user and it has not become widely adopted by Web users.

But RSS is the important technology as another avenue for reaching out to your website visitors, and keeping them informed.

Get it right and you will be a successful affiliate. Get it wrong and you will be just another affiliate statistic. What email-marketing methods work best to be a successful affiliate?

Here are 3 methods that consistently produce the best results for affiliates:

1 Developing a Newsletter:

You must have your personal newsletter that goes out in regular basis. If you are an affiliate you should have a newsletter.

A Newsletter with valuable information lets you build an email list. Then you can promote your affiliate program by adding articles and ezine ads in your newsletter.

A great way to build an email list is to run a free email course. You package some of your content into an email course running over perhaps a few weeks and offer it for free to subscribers. What you can do is have links at the bottom of each email promoting a different affiliate program.

For example, if you offered a 5-part email course you could promote 5 different affiliate programs in each email. In each email would be a link to a different affiliate program. Each link would have your unique affiliate code.

3.Offer e-book download

Another great way to build and email marketing list as an affiliate is to offer free e-book download. You can offer the download via auto responder so that an email goes out to subscribers giving them the download page. In that email you could promote a few of your affiliate programs. You can also promote affiliate programs by having links throughout the ebook.but be aware of not to provide full of links in your e-book rather useful quality informations. Then you can promote few of your affiliate programs through the links.

Email marketing is very essential for affiliate marketing. Use it properly then you can see the better results.

About Froogle, The Beta Version of Google

Google introduced the beta version of their “Froogle” online shopping search engine, which can help for searching a particular product with suitable description along with the price. It attempts to provide a searchable index of online merchandise catalogs.

Froogle offers searches by 3 different ways:

  1. A directory of products by category
  2. A searchable index of online products
  3. The ability to narrow searches by price range.

The search results are not sorted by price. It displays on the basis of Google’s famous Page Rank system. If you want to surfing for less time froogle gives you the products having clear and enticing descriptions while other seem to be random snippets to the product page.

Since you are providing a data feed to froogle, you can set the price that’s displays on froogle. Doing a good job of building your data feed, with effective product names and descriptions, will certainly bring you more traffic. Once you get them to your store, there are three things you *must* do: close the sale, follow up on the sale, and provide a reason for that visitor to start their shopping excursion at your store next time, instead of Froogle.

Froogle is just a beta test of Google. Google may expand it. Froogle takes no commission and charges merchants nothing, should be a strong incentive for merchants to participate.

Web Annotation

A Web Annotation is an online annotaion associated with a web resource, typically a web page. With a Web annotation system, a user can add, modify or remove information from a Web resource without modifying the resource itself. The annotations can be thought of as a layer on top of the existing resource, and this annotation layer is usually visible to other users who share the same annotation system, making it a type of social software tool.
Web annotation can be used:
  • To rate a Web resource, such as by its usefulness, user-friendliness, suitability for viewing by minors.
  • To improve or adapt its contents by adding/removing material, something like a wiki.
  • As a collaborative tool, e.g. to discuss the contents of a certain resource.
  • As a medium of artistic or social criticism, by allowing Web users to reinterpret, enrich or protest against institution or ideas that appear on the Web.

Concepts:
Annotations are a broadly useful mechanism that can support a number of document and database management applications:
  • Provide a trace of use
  • Third party commentary
  • Information sharing
  • Information filtering
  • Semantic labeling of document content
  • Enhanced search

But it continues to be hard to publish to the web. If better tools are provided to information consumers then readers will be able to add commentary, make new connections, interpret content, and otherwise promote an accretion of both structure and content on the web. This process will add new semantics to the web and this new information will be the source for new approaches to searching and filtering of information.
